Allowed to be outstanding

We don’t aim to meet OFSTED requirements, we aim to exceed them

Some see OFSTED requirements as the ultimate standard. We see them as the bare minimum, and always strive to go above and beyond.

OFSTED require:

  • Ratios of: Babies 1:3, Woddlers 1:3, Toddlers 1:4, Pre-School 1:13
  • 1 first aid person
  • 50% of staff qualified to NVQ Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE)
  • Supeumerary Manager (i.e. an extra team member in addition to the OFSTED ratios)
  • One Graduate Early Years Professional (EYP) or teacher

Kids Allowed insist on:

  • All the team get “non contact time” to complete paperwork etc.
  • The majority of the team have a paediatric first aid qualification
  • At Kids Allowed, we currently employ over 230 colleagues of which 91% are qualified or in training, 55% are qualified to level 3 or above and 10% have a degree in childcare.
  • We have always had at least one full time teacher and/or EYP as part of the team.

Each of our centres is registered with OFSTED under the National Standards for Daycare, and their registration certificate and details are displayed in the reception area. OFSTED carry out regular inspections to assess how we do things and if we comply with their requirements and you can read their reports here.

Kids Allowed is also a member of the National Day Nursery Association, which is dedicated to the provision, support and promotion of high quality care and education to benefit children, families and communities. See www.ndna.org.uk for more information.

Allowed to speak out

Whatever you want to say, we’re listening

Of course we love to hear nice things about ourselves. Who wouldn’t? But we’re actually more interested in the things you’re not so happy with. Because if you tell us that something is bothering you, then we can do something about it.

We’re always ready to listen; it’s how we developed the unique Kids Allowed approach, and how we’ll keep on improving it.

We carry out a parent survey each year to get a thorough understanding of parents’ feelings and opinions and have feedback cards in each centre and on a section of this website which parents can use at any time to share suggestions and ideas with Jennie and her management team. And we’ll always say a big Yes to any reasonable request.

To keep the conversation flowing both ways, we’ll keep you up to date through parent evenings and classes, our exclusive online forum for parents, a monthly newsletter from Central Support, plus a weekly email from your specific centre.

We firmly believe that our willingness to hear and act on your point of view is one of the key reasons that 99.6% of our parents would be happy to recommend us.
