I would like to thank the parents for the lovely comments they have made to me this week regarding the displays. The team work hard on them and it is good to know the time spent on them makes the centre look amazing.

We welcome Sue back from holiday on Monday and hope she had a wonderful time. We also had a terrific time last week for the Queen’s Birthday and this week for St Georges Day. Again thank you for all the lovely feedback.

What the children have been up to...

Babies

Joanne C - Unit Manager

This week in the baby room we have been painting and exploring paint by making and using our own dabbers. Squashing the dabbers in the paint and making our very own pictures.

We also painted our own flags and a banner for the Queen’s birthday and St George's Day. We’ve celebrated lots of birthdays this week and making lots of birthday cards.

Woddlers

This week we have been looking at and talking about the photos on our family tree display we did last week. We have also been practising our running and jumping, using all the space in the multipurpose room and dancing around to music. We’ve have been singing lots of songs this week to help us with our counting and numbers during our circle time.

Woddler 2

This week we have enjoyed the celebration of St George’s day. We made lots of flags to put on our display, and baked lots of yummy cakes and goodies. We have been exploring in the garden with our friends and looking at what big and little things we can find. We’ve also been practising our movement skills by travelling in and out of the tunnels in our room.

Woddler 3

We have been enjoying playing chop in the home corner, talking about different fruit and vegetables. We have enhanced this activity by making fruit kebabs with a drizzle of melted chocolate, which we made by banging an Easter egg in to pieces and melting it. We have also enjoyed making our new display about our family and friends from around the world, as a few of our friends are moving to another country. We would appreciate it if parents can bring in a family photo for our display and write down any links they have with other countries. We enjoyed making our St Georges day flags using lots of different textured paper and shades of red.

Toddlers

Samia A & Katie W - Unit Managers

This week, Toddler 1 made a town for our small world area and got really messy with the paper mache!

We made some yummy cakes for the Queen’s birthday – we had so much fun mixing all the ingredients together – and even more fun eating them!

On Monday we painted some lovely and colourful flags for St George’s day and coloured in pictures of dragons!

In Toddler 2 this week we have been making St George's day flags. We also made our own mini obstacle course in the garden. We have been playing with soil and seeds to grow our own beanstalk, let’s hope it’s magic!

We have also been learning this week about self care, like how important it is to wash our hands and practising caring with the dolls.

Preschool

James C - Unit Manager

This week we have been really busy looking at space- we made our own planet- dinoland and created our own aliens and games to play on the planet.

We have also tried our hand at threading, making our own pasta necklaces, looking at colour and threading skills.

We had a great St George's Day with flags, dragons and making shields. Our caterpillars are now cocooning, check out our Facebook  pageto see their progress!

Out of School Club

Kelly Anne R-D - Unit Manager

We have been very musical all week as we have been learning new songs and making a band to accompany our lyrics.

We’ve had a lovely party for the queen’s birthday where we had lots of food and cakes and party games. We made flags, table clothes and painted our windows with union jacks. We made a 3 tier cake for the queen’s birthday too, it was fab! We have been using paper Mache to make 3D objects for our displays.

We had lots of messy play this week with gloop and paint, and we certainly did make a mess! It was lots of fun.

Message from the Early years Teacher

James C & Sue F

We have looked at symmetry while making St George's day flags, using mirrors to finish the Red Cross. We have also been drawing our own leaves and cutting them out with sticky caterpillars- thinking about our new wriggly friends who have started cocooning.

We spoke about where animals and insects live and what they eat. We have finished our look at the letter ‘D’ and have done our oxford reading tree books with ‘Look Out’ and ‘Six In A Bed’.

Activities for Home: Can you name all the various animals you spot?
