Message from the Manager

James C - Centre Manager
We have had a super week this week with some lovely trips and activities taking place. Woddlers went on a great trip to Tatton Park and the Aviation Viewing Park, Toddler 2 went to our wonderful soft play centre at Knutsford Kids Allowed and had a great time. The woddler 1 room did a brilliant blue activity, getting good and messy with the water, paint, shaving foam, gloop and glitter. The children enjoyed being cleaned off after this messy activity, so much so that the children in the other Woddler room wanted to have baths too!
The time of year is fast approaching where we look towards our Preschool children and those graduating to leave us for school. We have arranged three separate graduation ceremonies for those Preschool children leaving us in September for school. The dates of the ceremonies are 16th July, 18th July and 23rd July all taking place in our Multipurpose room at 1:30pm.
Outside the Preschool room there are three sheets - if you wish to attend the graduation on a specific day please feel free to write your child’s name down on the sheet for that date. These places are given on a first come, first served basis and once one date is full it will be removed. There is also a graduation trip organised for the Preschool children leaving us. This will take place on 17th July and is at Run of the Mill indoor play centre, where Kids Allowed hire the entire centre for all of our graduating children from all of our Kids Allowed centres to have a great day. If you require any further information regarding the Preschool graduation, please feel free to speak to a member of the Preschool team.
Next week I will be beginning my two week holiday and in my absence Gemma and Rhiannon will both be taking turns to run the centre. If you need anything at all please feel free to contact them directly, alternatively please feel free to email me on james.crosswell@kidsallowed.com and I will be able to respond to you on my return on 10th June.
If you are waiting for photos back from the photographer, the proofs are now on reception. Please feel free to have a look and let us know if you want to buy a copy.
Can we please remind parents to take extra care in the car park and park in the Kids Allowed car park only. Many thanks,
Don't forget we will be closed on the bank holiday on Monday 27th May. We will be open as usual on Tuesday 28th May.
"Growing Outside" in Preschool - Growing Outside are a gardening club that teach the Preschool children all about gardening, growing food and looking after plants and seeds.
You can download a copy of this week's Growing Outside newsletter here. This week, we've been bringing colour to the garden by adding flowering plants to the hanging baskets. We are hoping to grow an enormous turnip too!
Next week we will be on Week two of our Spring menus. To view the menus, please click here.
Team Updates and Training
This week we were really lucky and had another five colleagues attend the annual refresher training, covering areas including safeguarding, behaviour management, health and safety and first aid. Kids Allowed are committed to ensuring all colleagues attend the refresher training course and we all had great fun and learned a lot.
A final goodbye to Liz H, our Centre Administration Manager who leaves today and all the best in your new role. Dawn B has already started with us and has been working with Liz in the last few weeks to train and learn the role. Please feel free to pop in and chat to Dawn if you need anything.
Lisa W who started in Preschool decided that full time hours were not suitable for her childcare needs and so will not be returning. We wish her all the best.

What the children have been enjoying this week
Babies
Joanne C - Unit Manager
This week we have been having lots of fun making dens. We really enjoyed hiding in them and shining torches through the material. We have also been listening to music from all sorts of different cultures, the babies really enjoyed listening to the different sounds and dancing along.
We have had lots of fun exploring bubbles. First of all we watched them float around the room, the babies loved watching them as they floated around. We then tried to catch them in our hands and popped them with our fingers!
Woddlers
Rhiannon M - Unit Manager
Woddler 1: This week in woddler 1 we have been exploring the sensory room. A few of our children have been mentioning stars and in the sensory room we can look at the pretend night sky! We have been singing "twinkle twinkle little star" in there and the children really loved it. We went on a trip to the shops and bought lots of new books and we have really enjoyed reading them. The children loved our messy play activity, getting messy in paint, shaving foam and gloop. We also went on another exciting trip to the aviation park, we have had so much fun watching the planes.
Woddler 2: This week we saw that Woddler 1 were cleaning themselves after painting in a bath so we decided to strip down to our nappies and have a bubbly bath!
We have been exploring nature objects this week in our room and in the garden with our new trees. We decided to take a trip to Tatton Park to explore nature at its best. We have made some sensory hands using flour, water, rice krispies and marshmallows. Some children recognised the marshmallows and said ‘cakes’ so we decided to make some yummy rice krispie squares with them.
Woddler 3: We have enjoyed playing with the small world farm yard, with the animals and farmer people. We explored the animal names and noises, and had lots of fun trying to do them for ourselves. We then went on a trip to the farm to see what animals do on the farm. We saw a range of animals, we were especially interested in the goats and lambs. We made lovely pictures using the animals in colourful paint creating and printing their footprints, we made lots of new marks and patterns.
Woddler 4: This week we did some painting with big and small brushes, some of us enjoyed painting our own hands and arms and feeling the texture. To follow this we explored the texture of shaving foam - we rubbed our hands in it and squelched it between our fingers. Finally we did some painting with our hands and fingers to make some lovely artwork. Out in the garden we have been throwing balls into creates and counting as we do it, also we have been rolling balls down the slide and catching them in the buckets at the bottom. It was fun shouting “weeee!” as they rolled down the slide!
Toddlers
Samia A & Katie W - Unit Managers

Toddler 1: This week we have been busy making lots of different fruits, bananas, strawberries, raspberries and grapes and we decorated them with chocolate. They were very yummy, we really enjoyed tasting all the different fruits. Also this week we have dressed in our funky pyjamas and had lots of fun having a lovely tea party. We have been using our outdoor area, making lots of fun exciting dens, with lots of different materials.
Toddler 2: We have been having lots of fun making dens in the garden, we got lots of material together and then got all cozy reading stories and singing songs. We have also been getting fit this week, doing all sorts of exercises. We have been doing all sorts of stretches and lots of jumping. As we jumped we also practiced our counting skills and seeing how many times we could jump up and down before we got tired. We had a very exciting trip to the soft play this week, making the most of it by even having our lunch at Knutsford!
Preschool
Gemma H - Preschool Manager
This week we have been looking in the mirror at our eyes. We looked at the different colour eyes we all have and talked about the differences between us all. We have also been having fun playing different role play games. We played camping in the garden, pretending we were part of the gruffalo story. It was lots of fun!
We have also been looking at different ways of painting this week and have been practicing pointillism, developing our fine motor skills. We made some lovely pictures and really enjoyed the different way of painting.
It is that time of year again when we begin to think about children leaving us to go to school and our preschool graduation. We will be having three graduation ceremonies, these will be on Tuesday 16th July, Thursday 18th July and Tuesday 23rd July. There are separate sheets for each date up outside the preschool room, if you wish for your child to attend on any of these dates please write their name down on the appropriate sheet. Thanks.
Message from the Early Years Teacher
Becky L - Early Years Teacher
We have completed our focus on shapes today by doing a shape hunt around the nursery and doing our very own Art Attack and making giant shape pictures on the floor.
We have also begun our new focus on building words through phonetic sounds. This started by spelling our names our of letter pegs. Our letter of the week was ‘Tt’ and next week it is ‘Pp’.
If you'd like to join with our sound of the week at home, we have published our Kids Allowed Phonics Song which you an all sing along with on YouTube by clicking here!
For updates about the activities I do with the preschool children during my small group teaching time, go to the Kids Allowed Facebook site which I update with each new focus. It tells you about the activities we have done and also what you can do at home if you want to extend their learning too.
If you have any specific questions, drop me an email on rebecca.latham@kidsallowed.com or catch me at drop off or pick up time. You can also message me on Facebook or Twitter!
Out of School Club
This week we have tried to make multi-coloured crayons. Our first try wasn’t that great so we are hoping for better results on our second go. We have made some delicious vanilla cheese cake to share with our friends. It was very yummy! We have also taken part in some other competitions such as ‘Who can build a house the quickest from a set of building blocks’ and ‘who can make the best bridge’.
We have also been having lots of outdoor fun this week, we built our own dens and had lots of bike races. We are very excited about all the adventures we will be having next week with the return of holiday club! We hope to see you all there.
Pictures of the Week!
