Our first course of ski school is coming to a close and the feedback so far has been fantastic. The children and team have had a great time and the children have been learning new skills and progressing each week.

We have commissioned a First Aid Video for our team (but I am sure parents will find it useful as well) to support and refresh the team on Paediatric First Aid in between courses.

I am not sure “what is in the water” in Didsbury and Chorlton but we cannot keep up with the demand for Woddler places so we are creating an additional Woddler room. We are doing this by moving the team’s Chill Out Room upstairs, converting the current Baby room into a Woddler room and moving the current Baby Room into a newly created Baby Room using the current team Chill Out Room and sensory room combined.

We are changing the way we do our parent survey to do them room by room rather than all in one go. We will be starting with a baby room survey for all Centres so that we can look into the ideas and suggestions that parents of that age group have. We will then publish the results of the survey and the key actions to come from it and implement those key actions.

We are making a few changes to how the Kids Allowed Preschool teachers spend time with your children which we believe are for the better.
At this month’s teachers meeting (a meeting I hold each month with all the KA teachers to share ideas and best practice) we have decided to move away from teaching a topic each day to running with a topic for longer so that children can extend their learning on a topic rather than just scratching the service on it by looking at it for one day then moving onto something else.

Phonics is a great way for children to learn to read but many people (especially parents taught the “old way” and some of the team) often pronounce their sounds incorrectly. So we have commissioned a fun song for the children and team (and parents too) to learn the sounds if their pure form.

The soft play frame (based at our Knutsford Centre) is being installed this week and should be ready for the children to use in February. The children from all Centres will get to use the play frame regularly which is a fun way for the children to be active and improve their gross motor skills, strength and balance at the same time as having lots and lots of fun.

We have commissioned the person that does our Team First Aid Training to develop a 90 minute first aid course for parents covering the main things we all worry about including practical CPR, choking, bleeding and answering some common questions you will come with.
